The History of the British Rock Garden

Speaker – Janice Bennetts

Alpine plants were being brought into the country from the 16th century, but the first record to be found for growing them amongst rocks was not until a century and a half later. This talk will explore how the construction of rock gardens became very popular at different times since then with a particular emphasis on Hampshire’s rock gardens.
