We offer support and advice to local communities who want to create, protect or maintain community gardens and parks.
This might include:
- advising on the development of garden plans and proposals
- supporting and encouraging community involvement in communal gardens
- supporting groups through funding applications and bids
- providing small grants from an annual budget to help get community garden projects off the ground.
When the Queen Eleanor’s Community Garden in Winchester was first established, the Trust actively promoted its creation, and nowadays, continues to be involved in advising staff who manage the garden. Again at Staunton Country Park members of the Trust were very involved in bringing about the changes that now make it a very valued community country park. We are looking forward to assisting in their future plans, in particular the research into the Georgian trail.
