The Hampshire Gardens Trust has recently given a grant of £1,000 towards this very exciting and worthwhile project.  Please read below, an update we have just received from them.

‘The Big Grow Project at Minstead is going from strength to strength. Since we started the project in January we have transformed our modest fruit and veg patch into a beautiful kitchen garden, which – despite challenging growing conditions this year, is yielding bumper crops of produce!  The children who come to stay at Minstead Study Centre are now able to harvest and eat garden produce at every meal and we are selling the surplus through local shops and markets.

The funding provided by the Hampshire Gardens Trust has gone towards funding our Head Gardener, Adam, who has masterminded the transformation of the garden.  He and his team of volunteers have worked incredibly hard and were able to show off the colourful garden at our recent 50th Birthday Open Day celebrations, when visitors were able to see, smell and taste what the kitchen garden has to offer.  The next stage of the project is to recruit an outreach officer who will help local schools to set up their own learning gardens.
